Learning Goal: I’m working on a sociology question and need guidance to help me learn.
Using a genogram, complete an assessment interview on a friend or peer to regarding their family history. Develop a family genogram so that at least three generations are included, and relevant information is presented. Write a selective and focused narrative describing the genogram and how a social worker might use these tools to enhance assessment and intervention planning with family members.
Take note: do not interview a close family member/relative for this assignment as the genogram will be similar to your own family system. This assignment builds on your previous experiences with genograms and tools as well as uses your assessment skills.
Students may be expected to report briefly about their experience with the Genogram assessment in class.
Part I: Genogram Guidelines

Include parents, grandparents, your subject, and siblings
If your subject has children, include them as a fourth-generation
Attempt to include as many dates and relevant family events as possible
When you are unable to obtain necessary details, use a question mark
Use initials or aliases to help maintain the confidentiality of your subject and their family.

Part II: Analysis of Genogram
When you have completed the genogram, write a 3-5 page synopsis addressing the following
Describe the structural features, interactional processes, and cultural events in the family that reflected cultural, ethnic, racial, religious, class, or other social memberships? How did these influence your subject’s personal and social identity?
Trace across generations the conditions that fostered your subject’s development of two ( 2) biopsychosocial strengths. Focus on strengths that will enhance your effectiveness as a social worker (empathic inclinations, self-awareness, social intelligence, communication competence, sense of social responsibility, values, and so on)?
Trace across the conditions of the generations that have contributed to two ( 2) biopsychosocial stressors, challenges, or prejudices that may interfere with your subject’s efforts to conduct as an adult (personally or professionally)?
Implications for Practice: Discuss how your subject’s family experiences might be similar to or dissimilar from the family experiences of social work clients. Also, reflect on the ways that you could use genogram assessment as a tool in your work with families and/or how to use the information gathered to plan an intervention with a family.
The final product should be detailed, focused, and insightful. Writing quality including creativity, insightfulness, critical thinking, and professionalism will be assessed. Use this assignment to gain a fuller understanding of how to assess clients’ families as a foundation for social work practice.

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper.
