DISCUSSION 1: (answer in 100 words)
Carl Rogers assumed the position that people are innately good. Given your experience in world events, do you agree with Rogers’s position? Give three examples of why or why not. Justifying your responses with research directly from Rogers.
RESPONSE 1: (answer in 100 words)
In my opinion, I do believe that people are good. I think people are born with a conscious to do good and learn lousy behavior from things surrounding them. For example, my grandpa is someone who I genuinely believe does not have an insufficient bone in his body. He constantly does good for others, donates, and supports his community in multiple ways. He constantly shows gratitude and fulfillment, which is something Rogers spoke a lot about. One article state, “while Freud may have been puritanical in comparison with Rogers, psychoanalytic theory has always understood neurosis as arising from insufficient gratification of feelings or impulses” *Wallach, 1990, pg. 3). Another example concerning the psychoanalytic theory is that humans are born with everchanging personality traits that are negatively affected by one’s environment. Such as being a part of a mean friend group in high school and evolving into an unkind person. The last example would be that the word is good since there are many opportunities and examples of people adopting children, fostering children, a=donating to charity, and completing good deeds every day. It would be silly to think of the world as such a dark place when miracles and significant events happen daily.

RESPONSE 2: (answer in 100 words)
To assume someone is innately good defies nature. People have genetics that guide how they will develop (nature) and genes that are acted upon by others. Your family and environment can affect your personality. It is possible to grow up in squalor and still become a wealthy and influential person or someone who is born in wealth can treat others very poorly. “The work of Carl Rogers (1969) crosses the boundaries between psychology and education and can be applied to facilitating online courses in the human services. Rogers (1969) identified three “core conditions” that support facilitative practice in both counseling and education: empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. He theorized that these three conditions were necessary for the creation of relationships that support and facilitate both therapeutic conversations and educational interactions” (Swan, K. et al, 2020, p. 5). This falls along the lines of a teacher and student which is similar to therapist and client. Relationships can provide a variety of opportunities to provide to students and develop better relationships.

DISCUSSION 2: (answer in 100 words)
Analyze your ability to self-disclose. Examine: a) your dating relationships/marriage, and b) peer relationships.
RESPONSE 3: (answer in 100 words)
Self-disclosure is “The act of revealing intimate information about oneself to another person” (Burger, 2018, pg. 443). I feel like I am very good at self-disclosure because I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve. But that does not mean that I will open up to anyone, as I feel like I struggle with opening up to people and letting them gain my trust. To get better at this, I need to put myself in situations where I can be more vulnerable. In past dating relationships, I have opened up to people a lot and ended up getting hurt, which is why it tends to be more challenging for me now. In peer relationships, as in my befriends, I share almost everything. I love hearing advice from my friends and gaining support from them. Similarly, with my family, I share a lot with my mom, as she is my best friend.

RESPONSE 4: (answer in 100 words)
I am not particularly good at self-disclosure, as defined by the American Psychological Association as “the action of exposing sensitive or confidential information concerning oneself to another person” (APA, 2020). I am a pretty closed-off person, or, as I addressed in my paper last week, I am unquestionably introverted. Normally, I don’t reveal anything regarding myself. For some reason, I experience a more difficult time dating than in any other setting. I generally like to keep to myself, and if I feel the urge to be among others or chat to someone (intimately or informally), I will, but not typically. When it relates to social connections, I may be self-disclosive, however when it pertains to disclosing personal or confidential information regarding myself, well, I just don’t do it. If questioned, how much I disclose depends on who is inquiring, but I never go too personal (if I can avoid it) unless I have a unique relationship with somebody, whether dating or peer-wise.

Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.
