USE THE ATTACHED TEMPLATE FOR FORMATTING AND THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW AS A GUIDELINE:
You are required to write a one-page (12-point type every other line)
personal response to the work. Focus on this one image in the attached template PDF, and respond to the body of work as a whole. I do not want you to simply regurgitate biographical details of the artist’s life. I am interested in your personal yet considered response to the artist’s work.
If you feel stuck, a detailed description of exactly what you are seeing is a good way to begin considering a
work of art. Consider formal elements such as positive & negative space, symmetrical & asymmetrical
balance, line, shape, shape, value and texture, and quality of light and how these choices work in service to
the ideas and obsessions that drive the artist’s creative work.
When creating your own work and considering the work of others, think about the importance of
experimentation, risk-taking, and trial and error as useful problem-solving methods for creating work based
on wondering—asking questions—as opposed to simply presenting answers developing one’s capacity to
think, speak and write effectively about the issues central to one’s work the invaluable contribution of
research to creativity open discourses between fields of study the many intersections that impact how we see
(and fail to see) and experience the world how these intersections impact how we both create and read
images.
Some questions to consider when writing your response papers:
(You may choose to explore one question and not more than three as these are searching questions and the
goal is to dive deeply rather than stay on the surface––unless the photographer is demanding that you only
consider the surface of things.)
What initially attracted you to the work?
If your initial attraction to the work is its’ beauty, please describe the specific nature of this beauty.
What is your initial response to the work (if it is not attraction)?
Why do you think you are responding in this way?
What is the subject matter of the work?
Is the explicit subject matter the same as the implicit subject?
What do you think the artist was trying to accomplish by creating this work?
Does the artist fulfill his or her goal?
What is the bias of this work?
Do you think the artist had a particular audience in mind for their work?
How was the work was read and understood in its time? How is the work read now?
Does this artist have any blind spots in relation to their subject? If so, what are they?
Is there an equal/unequal power/privilege relationship between photographer and subject?
How does this impact your reading of and appreciation for the image?
Is this photographer photographing what is known or unknown to them?
Does the impact and meaning of the work change depending upon whom is looking at the work?

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I get my paper done?

It depends with your deadline. If you need your paper completed in 3 hours, we will deliver it in that time. All you need to do is indicate your deadline in our custom order page here. Alternatively, if you are sending us your instructions via email, please be sure to indicate your deadline.

Will it be completely original? I don't want to be caught in a case of Academic Integrity Violation.

We are as paranoid as you are. Maybe even more! And we understand that the greatest sin you can commit in your academic journey is plagiarizing your academic work. To that end, we have made sure that we check and double-check our papers using high quality plagiarism detection tools such as SafeAssign and Turnitin before submitting the paper to you.

Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.

What if I need revisions? Will your charge additional for this?

Of course not! If you do happen to require a revision on your paper, our team will handle it for you free of charge. Matter of fact, we won’t rest till you are happy with your paper. So, ask for as many revisions as you need, it’s completely FREE!

Will you give me my money back if I don't like my paper?

We have very few instances where we delivered a paper that a client didn’t fall in love with. But if it so happens that you don’t like your paper for any reason whatsoever, we’ll refund your money back no questions asked.

I have more assignments after this, can you help me with those too?

Of course! And what’s even better is that we can reserve a writer permanently to work on your entire class. This comes in handy for projects which build up on each other and where you need just one writer, one writing style.

I got my order information wrong, can I change that?

Yes you can. Just reach out to our support team via email (support@essaynook.com) or live chat here and they’ll help you change the instructions.

Can I place an order via email instead of going through the order page?

Yes you can. Email Anna at anna@essaynook.com, she’s in charge of our sales team. Alternatively, you can talk to our Live Chat team here and request to speak to Anna.
